I can see where the AI stuff might be helpful to some people, but for those of us who sometimes have trouble concentrating to begin with, every new distraction just makes it that much harder to actually, you know, DO MY JOB.

SPEAKING FOR MYSELF and not the company I work for, PLEASE add a way for individual users to disable "features" like this ... and MAKE NEW FEATURES OPT-IN RATHER THAN OPT-OUT.

Of course, since I'm speaking for myself, and "myself" isn't the one writing a big fat check to atlassian every month, I fully expect that anybody at atlassian is going to care what I think, and the time and energy I'm spending by typing this comment will end up being wasted. Atlassian's products just get worse and worse as time goes by ...

              1. I am an end user on an enterprise account, speaking for myself.
              2. As a user, I want to be able to disable unhelpful and distracting features so I can do my job without frustration and resentment.
              3. I do not use these types of generative AI if I can avoid it. I do not appreciate the environmental destruction, among many other harms, nor do I wish to de-skill by outsourcing my higher-order thinking skills to a fancy autocomplete for a questionable short-term gain.
                • I'm fully capable of generating my own summary of a document using skills like "skimming" and "scanning", and in the process I develop a better understanding of the text than if I'm spoon-fed by an LLM.
                • I don't need attention-grabbing rainbow-colored underlines peppered throughout the text to tell me what every abbreviation stands for. The rare times I might want that information, a couple of clicks would let me web-search it. They detract from the readability of the document without adding the slightest value.

While I sympathize that Product needs to justify its employment through adoption-rate OKRs, these distracting and unhelpful features are impacting my ability to use your products and should never be forced upon the user. Did we learn nothing from Clippy? (At least Clippy had the decency to be optional.)

The AI slop shop at the top of my confluence results are distracting and make it take longer to get to my actual content. A distracting feature like this should never have been enabled without a user-affirmative-consent request. It's mind boggling it was implemented without a per-user disable button. It's like all the other ads and distractions shown on Confluence. ("Connect this app! Use this AI! What about Teams?!")

Please stop forcing AI features unto us. We're getting all kinds of weird prompts and suggestions that have nothing to do with the contents of our issues. Stop shoving AI-features down our throat!

This is getting worse and not better. Now there are AI underlined "definitions" that I don't know how to disable.

              Stop.

Please make this an opt-in feature, not an opt-out feature.

I don't care if people want to use an LLM - go nuts! If it helps you, I'm happy for you. I just don't want to see it, and it is incredibly unhelpful to distract me when I'm trying to write something.

More to the point: Its insulting that Confluence/Atlassian feel the need to tell me that I can "Improve writing" when I'm in the midst of writing something. It suggests not only that it can do it for me, which I do not want, it suggests that my writing needs to be "improved". I do not want my voice to be superseded by some outside force; I find the suggestion(s) obnoxious and irritating.

As a regular end user of Jira, I find it extremely annoying and offensive that I cannot simply disable AI features. I do not need them and I do not want them.

+1, for the same reasons as Tom Ahola, as well as for my personal UX. AI should be a choice - don't force it down our throats!

Voting Yes to be able to disable ALL AI features.
The reason is that AI is a power hog wasting enormous amounts of energy. In my country they are destroying forests and protected natural areas to build data centers and the wind farms to feed power to them. Energy prices go up as the energy demand increases.
Also AI is synonymous to propaganda and using artificial intelligence will deteriorate human intelligence in the long run.

              1. My organization is irrelevant as my opinions are my own.
              2. I need individual control of AI as my organization does not care about sustainability.
              3. I don't use AI features. I try to use Atlassian tools as little as possible if they trigger any power hungry AI processes in the data centers.
