      It would be great if Stash could support MongoDB.

            That's too bad, Atlassian, because you are soon to be far behind the rest of the industry.
            I would think that the issues with Hibernate would be ridiculously numerous... i.e. Schema
            Changes and DB migrations... Have fun with that.

            Stash uses the Hibernate library to support different databases (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, etc). Using Hibernate means we don't have to worry about database-specific syntax and limitations. Unfortunately, Hibernate only works with relational databases.

            In addition, the performance characteristics of a relational database are quite different than those of a NoSQL database. It would be difficult to ensure Stash performed well on both.

            As a result, we don't have any plans to support MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
