The local branch tree, remotes and stashes seems to collapse after a refresh, which happens often it gets annoying playing with the beta.

Was able to reproduce it by having no uncommitted changes, deleting a branch from the remote and selecting another one. Sometimes it is not even possible to click a different branch because the tree collapses again.

Problem does not occur in latest stable

Try 2.3.5 (it's a beta release). It's still collapsing in that release, but MUCH less often. So they are making progress.

This seems very unlikely, but is it possible this is related to Git on Windows in general? I installed a trial of Tower for Git and am noticing that repos are closing in a similar way when I leave the app in the background for a while. Doubtful, but it's an odd bit of synchronicity.

As others have said, this is still not resolved in v2.1.11.0 (Win). We as a company have considered using some of Atlassian's paid products, but the persistence of such a disruptive issue and the premature 'resolved' status definitely undermine our confidence. This needs to be reopened, and I hope it will be truly resolved soon.

I too am still seeing this issue on version 2.1.10.0 for Windows.

It's like a daily digital tug of war. I unfold stuff, then SourceTree collapses it. Then I unfold things again, and then SourceTree collapses it. I don't know why this is marked as resolved, it very much seems like a persistent issue. Please re-open this issue so I can vote for it.

One more confirmation for you in ver 2.1.10.0.  I am unable to consistently repro, though.  I do agree with Zachary above that it seems to happen when re-gaining focus.  And it is only the active tab that is having the issue.

I concur, Version 2.1.10.0 this is still occurring. I can easily reproduce the collapse most times when I un-focus SourceTree, then re-focus SourceTree.

Open SourceTree > Open Remotes and "origin" on the left > click a different application window > click SourceTree again

What I observe is that there's a small progress bar at the top of the left area box where Remotes/Stashes/etc live which shows up for a quick moment then disappears again. Most times when that progress bar shows up my tree-view collapses.

I too have switched software - Sourcetree has become too unresponsive and keeps crashing.  Would be nice to go back to the previous version before Atlassian decided to add unnecessary bells and whistles to the UI which basically renders the software unusable.  Even the minimize, maximize, close icons in the top right don't work properly.

This disruptive issue has been hanging around for much too long. Time to give GitKraken a try. It's also free and multi-platform.

Yes, I am confused, as well, because I just checked again and the issue occurs in v2.2.0.

It does not happen on every refresh. From my point of view, it happens randomly and perhaps that makes it difficult to track down. I cannot seem to find a specific scenario that causes the collapsing. It may happen right after I switch to SourceTree after having made some changes, so it refreshes after new uncommitted changes. Or with no changes at all, I just switch to the application after having minimized it to the taskbar. I really wish I could find a specific scenario in order to assist more in fixing this issue.

This Bug became really annoying with one of the last updates.
Sometimes the branch tree even collapses while I'm expanding it because something refreshes. Most of the time the tree view won't stay expanded longer than a few seconds, because there is almost every time some action causing a refresh.

            Please fix this ASAP!
