      1. Modify a file in submodule
      2. Modify a file in main repo
      3. In main repo, stage and commit
      4. "Submodule Check" dialog appears; click Open...
      5. Check "Push changes immediately" checkbox
      6. In submodule, stage and commit

      If the push fails because of upstream changes, the app becomes unresponsive with no way to recover except to restart.
