SpellChecker Error dialogue referring to files that are not listed

    • Icon: Bug Bug
    • Resolution: Duplicate
    • Icon: Low Low
    • None
    • 1.9.9.20
    • UX
    • Windows 8

      Pretty straightforward installation.

      Working with VS and TFS.

    • Severity 3 - Minor

When updating I got the dialogue attached.

It refers to some file references but I see none. Maybe SpellChecker is the file reference.

Not a big issue. Just wanted to mention.

Pressing Yes continued the installation and so far everything looks good.

SourceTree is reporting that there are invalid file entries listed in the registry for the Windows spellchecker. If these are not deleted it can cause performance issues in SourceTree. The dialog should list the files to be deleted. However it appears it is possible to get empty entries in the registry, something we didn't see during testing. We are working to improve the notification's presentation of this.

It is possible that this dialog will re-appear multiple times. This is because any program using the spell-checker can cause the invalid entries to re-appear. This is due to a Windows 10 bug.

For me it appears to be solved on version 1.9.10.0

Same problem here (on all machines). Also with version 1.9.9.20. After disabling the spell checker the problem persists.

I'm also experiencing this problem. I turned off spell checker completely, as a workaround, but long term please fix the bug!

My Sourcetree does not show the dialogue every time.

My colleagues Sourcetree shows the dialogue every time.

I just double checked that we both have version 1.9.9.20

            FWIW

I'm seeing this same "SpellChecker Error" (with no files listed) every single time I launch SourceTree.
