Please add a folder view to the working copy tree. In large projects it is quite hard to find files in a non structured view.
[SRCTREEWIN-391] Add folder structure to working copy tree
This seems fixed, but when Iam at the Working Copy, no commits left, no files appear there. I show All files and anything comes up. What's going on?
Thank you kindly, IT has now installed the older and better version for me. It won't read repositories in my home volume, but works once I copy to C:—a small price to pay for basic functionality.
Don't hold your breath Flash we've been asking for this back for just over 4 years now. I'm still using ver. 1.7.0.32509 and so are probably most other people here.

Agreed, need this feature back asap! Tools > Options > General still has the “option” to turn it on and off, but doesn’t work.
I can't believe you call this fixed!?!? The new tree view is a piece of garbage. I've reverted to an old version, AGAIN, to get back the functionality that is vital to how I use SourceTree. While I wait for a real fix for this problem I'll be researching for a new Git GUI. I couldn't find a reliable location for downloading 1.7 so I had to install from an old download of 1.6 and use the in-product updates to upgrade to 1.7.0.32509 which seems to be the last version available that contained a truly functional tree view.
@mminns : just tried upgrading from 1.6.25 to 1.9.5, but don't see any treeviews in here. Is that feature not out of beta yet, or am I missing something?
Hi
A revised treeview has been added back into SourceTree, its been going through the Beta process, and will be made generally available at the beginning of next week.
Is there still no update/comment concerning this issue? Removing this is a terrible idea...
+1 for adding a tree view back into Sourcetree 1.8.x we downgraded to 1.7 and won't be looking forward to a new release until treeview is back on the windows side.
I just started using SourceTree today and added a repository.
Guess what my first action was on adding code?
Viewing the code in a tree form. Which, btw is not available.
So I have to add my voice to the growing list of folks who really want this feature. And I also disagree that the priority on this is minor. Please fix it folks!
In other news, Google silently removes browser functionality from latest Chrome release because "it can sometimes cause poor performance"
I would just like to add my vote to restoring the tree view. Source Tree for me is unusable without it and I have reverted back to an old version until this feature re-appears. It makes no sense to me either why this hugely useful feature has been removed when so many people use it.
Bump. This feature is gone in the current Windows app (1.8.2.3). It's there in OS X though. There's a check box for "Enable Tree View" in Tools > Options but it doesn't seem to do anything. From the comments it seems like this was working for a bit then went away. Could you guys please restore it? It's tremendously useful for usability and pretty frustrating to not have. Thanks!
Why would you remove the tree view?!?!?!?!?! Now you have me looking for a different Git tool.
This needs an emergency fix, asap. I can live with the latest update as long as this feature is in there. Love SourceTree, but I need this to continue using this product, it's the one feature that convinced me to use the tool and a Git UI in the first place. You still have the "option" under Tools > Options > General -> "Enable Tree View as a file listing option", but doesn't do a thing from what I can tell.
Even the old tree view was only partly useful. This is the only reason I can't fully switch to SourceTree yet and have to have a second tool (git extensions) installed. That beeing said, SourceTree has a lot of great features and I wouldn't want to miss it.
I don't get how this is not a must for them. Even old and cumbersome Java Swing offered a tree view component. It's the standard for file management, and it's by long more important than any smart filter, sorting or grouping you can add. List files? Use a tree view.
Changing the UI is one thing, removing functionality (like the missing tree view now) is ridiculous.
Atlassian: Please give us this functionality back.
Cheers markgillespie,
For everyones convenience
SourceTree v1.6.9 BETA
https://twitter.com/sourcetree/status/527138323631185920
Changelog:
http://www.sourcetreeapp.com/update/WindowsReleaseNotes_public_beta.html
Note: you can install the SourceTree Beta in parallel with the stable release but can only run one at a time. The beta version will receive beta updates only and will not transition to the stable version via auto-update.
EDIT: I would suggest marking SRCTREEWIN-503 as a duplicate.
There is a Beta at the moment (check the Sourcetree Twitter feed for download details).
It's not particularly stable (but then I can't really remember the last time Sourcetree Windows was stable, 1.2x maybe?)
OK, I'm concerned about the progress of this issue. Two months ago we were told that this feature was in testing and might show up in a point release. One month ago its target release version was removed. Now it still is not even on the roadmap even though it remains the highest voted issue on this site, doubling the interest of the next popular one (which is fixed) and tripling the one after that (which is on the roadmap for V1.7). It would be nice to know what is going on here.
We've certainly got our fair share of chronic sliders in JIRA. But in our case, we always do a stellar job of providing commentary to go along with any changes to the Fix Version. The out-and-out removal of the Fix Version pretty much requires logging verbose justification.
Just started using SourceTree a few days ago in replacement of TortoiseGit. The product itself is awesome! Plus it's free which is always nice. However, after browsing every possible option while making my commit, I stared at the screen in disbelief: I really couldn't believe there was no hierarchical display. It's quite a showstopper, really!
This feature was scheduled for 1.6.5 version. But now it has no fix version. News about this?
I was sad to see this feature did not make it into 1.6.5 ether...
Completely agree with Christian, this issue is a stopper for using SourceTree and Stash in our company. We only use Windows and our repositories are big ones, so the Tree view is very important, not a 'Minor' issue.
Would you please consider to post an update for this issue. It has been postponed so many times despite being the top voted issue on Windows. Maybe it deserves a higher priority than "Minor".
I think this is some important functionality. Even more given the fact that the application is called Source_Tree_
>> You do realize you are making this comment 4 days after they announced it's in progress but not quite ready? Relax. They are trying to do bug fixing with the minor releases.
I do realise that the last time this issue has been changed to a release version was few days ago for release 1.6.2
I do realise that is the last change of long list of postponing the issue for the next release (which never come)
I do realise that is a year that I'm following this issue.
I'm relax, especially because sourcetree is for free so I can't really complain, but as many said before me, this is not a minor detail and soon or later we will get to bored to wait and we will switch to other systems. Pity, because sourcetree is a quite good tool, unfortunately on windows, with a large repository, it is quite unusable.
>> I just downloaded version 1.6.3 but this feature still missing...
You do realize you are making this comment 4 days after they announced it's in progress but not quite ready? Relax. They are trying to do bug fixing with the minor releases.
Thanks, Steve.
Just curious – Is this tracker not really used to demonstrate whats actively being worked on? Any reason this isn't marked "In Progress"? That would probably solve a lot of the disconnect.
It's actually under development right now - it's not quite ready for the 1.6.0 release (hence missing from the beta) but will be in a point release shortly after
Same here.
I understand that I shouldn't be upset at developers for a software that they give for free, but because this software is so great and useful and a simple tiny thing like this ruins it completely, I can't help myself but feel quite disappointed.
This was targeted at 1.5.3 (which never arrived back in April) and seem to be missing from 1.6 beta, which doesn't seem to offer very much worthwhile at all, merely changing things that already work around.
+1. I'm surprised (and more than a little disappointed) that this is set to 'minor' priority. A tree view of any folder hierarchy is very basic functionality.
I'm a Mac user but currently part of a team of Windows devs. This is the one thing that comes up every time I introduce someone to SourceTree. For now they have to live with Tortoise for tree based browsing, our repos are just too big for flat lists.
+1, add the folder structure view to the staging area too. Just like the Mac version.
I had hard time finding this option. To get a tree view on your project, you'll have to go in File Status, and change the filtering options to All Files and the presentation to Tree View.
It's kind of non intuitive & not user friendly to switch from a pending changes view ( Pending Files + List View + Split View Staging ) to a project exploration view ( All Files + Tree View + No staging )
