  I have SourceTree version 2.6.10.0 installed.

  Source tree is having difficulty completing most trivial actions: switching branches, discarding submodule changes.
  This state is persistent across PC resets, SourceTree resets. I tried reinstalling SourceTree, and the issue persists.
  I get errors of the sorts:

  "git -c diff.mnemonicprefix=false -c core.quotepath=false --no-optional-locks submodule sync
  /mingw32/libexec/git-core/git-sh-setup: line 46: /git-sh-i18n: No such file or directory
  Completed with errors, see above."

  GitKraken is able to handle the same repository w/o these issues.

Hi
It looks like the git installation Sourcetree is using has been corrupted. If you are using Sourcetree's embedded Git, try shutting sourcetree down, including any openSSH or PuTTY/PAgeant instances and then delete %localappdata%/Atlassian/Sourcetree/git_local folder.

When you re-open Sourcetree, it should prompt to re-install git if it can't find another installation on your machine.
