Hg pull does not report connection errors correctly

When you have an unreliable internet connection, then Git copes with this well:

git -c diff.mnemonicprefix=false -c core.quotepath=false fetch origin  
fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/jpluimers/jedi.git/': Failed connect to github.com:443; No error
    
Completed with errors, see above.

The Mercurial module just says "No changes to pull" after a long time, where I am sure there were changes (on the conference location, I could pull those changes).
