Hi everyone,

We're sorry for the delay - and at the same time we hope the wait will turn out to be worth it.

After considering carefully both your suggestions as well as any usability and performance concerns, we've decided to not only allow you to see more sprints, but completely reimagine the experience of working with velocity report.

The updated chart will let you display up to 120 sprints in any chosen date range and will additionally include the average velocity calculated for the selected time period, extended data table and major visual upgrade.

All that will be available to you soon in Jira 8.9.

Description

Currently the Velocity Chart is hardcoded to show (max) last 7 sprints. Looking at the average amount of work completed in a sprint is the main value of the Velocity Chart, so the value of the Velocity Chart increases with every sprint, because the average is getting better.

If you have Sprint of two weeks length, you are talking about only 3-4 months. If vacation or christmas time is in between, you average is getting poor.

Therefore the limitation to show only last 7 sprints is bad and should be removed.
