Issue Summary
The Parent Link field incorrectly displays "No matches" for issue types that have been translated.
Additionally, if the Epic issue type has its terminology changed under ⚙ > System > Terminology, the Parent Link field also displays "No matches"
Because the Terminology option creates a translation, that feature is also affected by the same bug.
Steps to Reproduce
- Navigate to Settings > Issues > Issue Types.
- Select an issue type, such as "Task," and click on "Translate."
- In the "View Language Translations" dropdown, select a language (e.g., Dutch (Netherlands)) and click "View."
- Add the name in Dutch, for example, "Taak."
- Create a new issue with an issue type higher in the hierarchy, e.g., "Custom -1."
- Create a new issue of type "Task" named "Test Task-1" and set "Custom -1" as its parent link.
- Initially, when editing the parent link in "Test Task-1," all potential parent issues are correctly displayed.
- Change the language preference by clicking on the User Icon > Profile > Edit Preferences, and set the language to Nederlands (Nederland).
- Attempt to edit the parent link in "Test Task-1" again.
- Notice that the dropdown now shows "Geen overeenkomsten" (translating to "No matches") for the parent link, even though appropriate parent issues exist.
Expected Results
The Parent Link dropdown should display all available issues that can be linked as a parent to "Test Task-1."
Actual Results
The Parent Link field in "Test Task-1" shows "Geen overeenkomsten" (translating to "No matches") when viewed in a translated language.
Workaround
Set the Dutch (or any other language) translations to match the English names. This effectively bypasses the translation issue, as users will see the English names regardless of their language setting.
- In the "View Language Translations" dropdown, select a language (e.g., Dutch (Netherlands)) and click "View."
- Edit the name in Dutch, for example from "Taak" to "Task"
For the Terminology Epic case, the workaround is to revert the Epic to its original term.
