The ability to set milestones at initiatives level in order to give visibility to project teams, scrum teams, business users of key initiatives dates (E.g. Expected Launch Date, Integration Test Date etc...) and help controlling (at least visually) that the initiative is on track with the date expectations.

I totally agree with this last comment. It would really help make AR a more effective project management tool if we had milestones. Please prioritize this feature.

I am very interested in being able to visualize Milestones in the Timeline section of my Advanced Roadmaps Plans without needing to add another add-on. This feature would allow me to share valuable information across our organization and, in my opinion, would really enhance AR.
How difficult is to do something like this ?? many other products are capable of

The similar functionality is provided in other vendors' plug-ins for Roadmapping - https://docs.easyagile.com/easy-agile-roadmaps/creating-a-roadmap/#CreatingaRoadmap-AddingaDateMarker.
It is something that only need to live in Portfolio plan and doesn't need to to integrate back to Jira project. Seems to be a simple one to add.

As the reality in many companies contains a mix of sprint work and fixed release dates, demo dates etc, it would be good to be able to visualize a time marker for milestones in the plan.
- Visualize milestones as a line in the timeline view, with the possibility to turn on/off them.
- Make it possible to create dependencies towards such milestones. It would be good to be able to force issues to be finished before such a milestone.
There should be an ability to depict Milestones as well as Dependencies on the 'Timeline' view (or, a 'Gantt' view). This will enable leveraging the Portfolio for defining a High Level Plan (HLP) as well as keep tab on key dates in the project.
- HLP
- Timeline view can be segregated in 2 parts; upper one to depict milestones and dependencies, lower part to depict the view as it exists today
- Milestones and Dependencies
- Leverage custom JIRA issue types (say, 'Milestone' or 'Dependency')
- Include a custom Portfolio field (say, 'Marker' with values of 'Y' and 'N') to depict the issue as a marker on the timeline/gantt view

added a comment - Milestones are available in most, if not all, Gantt plugins for JIRA - assuming a Gantt view suits you, simply search for "Gantt" on Atlassian Marketplace.
