The newest way of doing forcasting is using the Monte Carlo Method.
JIRA Software should include Charts for creating Monte Carlo simulations as a new way of forecasting. Kanbanize has added this to their charts, which I see a serious competitor to JIRA Software. Atlassian needs to up their game in developing new Kanban features.

One more vote from a CTO! (presenting an entire organization) - rather than using excel sheets to do that job!
Jira should follow Kanbanize with reports def. Kanban reporting is poor so far...
I strongly agree with this suggestion. Higher maturity organizations, need to use more advanced techniques, such as Monte Carlo Analysis to forecast future outcomes. I saw this feature in Kanbanize, which is great! If Jira Server could have this available as a plug-in it would be greate!

I missed out in my previous post that there is also a stand-alone Windows & Mac app that supports JIRA Server as well. Please see my updated answer above.
Looks interesting, but we need this functionality for JIRA Server. Also, this should be core functionality, and not have to be paid extra.
There is a JIRA Cloud plugin as well as a standalone app for both JIRA Cloud & Server available. The solution has both Monte Carlo, S-Curve and reports
