DVCS Connector throws Invalid user/team account if there is not enough memory

This has been noticed recently that the "Invalid user/team account" error message gets thrown when there is not enough memory to sync the DVCS connector to a large repository. The problem with this error message is that it seems to be a "Catch All" for a whole bunch of different problems, ranging from wrong Java version and restricted firewall rule to a real "Invalid user/team account" like what the error message is actually saying.

      Workaround

Upping the memory in JIRA has been seen to solve this problem, see here for more. It was noticed for example when trying to sync with GitHub.

Reconfiguring firewall to allow connection also seems to be a solution, noticed when trying to connect to Bitbucket.

There are also some other problems that might cause this same error. Please see DVCS Connector won't connect to GitHub, returns Invalid User/Team Account for further information.

Above all, if you are an OnDemand customer, or the steps in the above KB articles do not work for you, please contact Atlassian Support at https://support.atlassian.com.

christian.rebelsky Is the issue still happening to your OD instance? Was there a support ticket for that?

Same error message but not memory related, got solved by this guide: DVCS Connector redirects to the JIRA Home After authentication from Github

            Hello Atlassian team,

I also have this problem but with the OnDemand JIRA and therefore the suggested workaround does not work for me. This is a blocking issue for me.

            Please advise.
