As a user I would like to remove completed sprints from appearing in dropdowns and reports so I can work more efficiently

Probably using a sprints management page similar to the Version page in JIRA to archive sprints.

      Related story for sprint deletion.

[JSWSERVER-11216] Allow sprints to be archived

Would love to be able to archive old sprints. Certain filters won't work as expected due to many issues having multiple closed sprints in their history as they've bumped from sprint to sprint.

For example, in a two dimensional filter on a dashboard, if you sort by X - Priority Y - Sprint, you'll see a bunch of issues being multi-counted if they have been on more than one sprint, and they will also be counted on closed sprints, so the closed ones make the view very hard to read as you accumulate more old sprints.

To leave this as "Gathering Interest"
when https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-20283 aka "Having more than 65,000 closed sprints breaks the JQL function closedSprints()"
is also "Gathering Interest" is ..... rough.

The largest customers are hitting large roadblocks in base functions.

            Maher,

That's a shitty work around. I would like these to be deleted completely.

Guys, I have an easy solution that I came up with. It worked and it takes seconds lol. there is no need from JIRA team to invent something here. All what you have to do is simply assign a task to the test sprint you created [the one you want to delete but you cant]. Once you assign a task to that sprint, you will see it appear in the backlog in Agile board. Haha now you can complete that sprint or rename it and you are done.

This is important. Should be able to hide Old/obsolete sprints.

This would be helpful. What is worse, however, is that I appear to see all the Sprints that have been created across all projects in the Sprint field. I have a LOT of scrolling to do to find the Sprint I want and worse yet, I have users assigning to bad Sprints. In general, with all of the other issues I have encountered, it appears as though the Sprint management got rolled out well before it should have.

Archiving / deleting unwanted sprints would be great. I'm pretty sure Atlassian team are aware of this issue and they are trying to figure it out. It does not seem easy to just allow us to delete or archive unwanted old sprints.

Its a powerful tool and I'm happy with it but needs some tweaks here and there to be perfect.

That would be really beneficial for us. Teams do use the new board for 2 years, so they have a lots of sprints, and the usage of the reporing mode is cumbersome. They repedately ask for this feature.
