Issue Summary
The ability to set up grouping by component (or labels or any other attribute) on Plans is great but it only works on the parent level of the hierarchy.
It doesn't work on child items of the group setup which means you see a lot of irrelevant and/or duplicated items from other groups displayed which are out of context of the information you are trying to view in this group. This is even more common when working on a multi-team program or multiple disciplines within a team
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a parent issue such as an initiative or program and assign multiple components to it
- Setup a few children issues underneath this such as epics and stories within the epic. These would be more narrow and have a single component assigned to them
- Setup Group by Component in the View Settings of the plan
Expected Results
- Goal of each group is to only display items that match the Group By field selected
- Children only display if the Group By field is selected
- Parent items of children display if they do match the Group By field if they have children underneath that match the Group By field to keep the hierarchy in place
Note: maybe there could be a configuration checkbox to filter all items or just the parent (current way) if a lot of people like that functionality
Actual Results
- Parent item are filtered by the Group By field
- All children are displayed of the parent items regardless of the Group By field
Workaround
- Don't use the Group By functionality and create multiple plans which isn't ideal
