Splitting issues with validators on their workflow throws error

Issue Summary

When attempting to split an issue that has a workflow that contains validators to make fields required, Jira throws the following generic error:

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a Validator in the workflow making any field required
2. Try to Split the issue by going to Backlog > Right-click on the issue > Split
3. On the Slit issue dialog, set an Estimation for all issues

Expected Results

The issues should be Split with no errors

Actual Results

An error "We're having some trouble splitting the issue. Refresh the page and try again." is displayed.

Workaround

Currently, the only workaround is to make the field Required within the Field Configuration, instead of using the validators in the workflow.

However, please notice that if the field configuration is being used by other projects that must keep different behaviors, it would be necessary to create a different field configuration for this specific issue type/project.
