Hi all,
Epic Swimlanes will respect the ordering from the board filter. However if the epics are excluded from the board filter - the stories themselves will determine the ordering, as per the board filter.
The previous logic was creating a constraint for users when there were epics from multiple projects displayed on a single board - because this logic was set by Jira and the user could not control it. We have changed the logic with the new board to rely on the ordering as set in the board filter to give users more control. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes in the short term.
In this specific example, we would suggest including the epic in the board filter to control the order in which the epic swimlanes display on the board. Or change the ordering of the stories for that epic.
If you feel your problem is not related to this change, or you are encountering some different behaviour - please @ mention me in the comments below

Issue Summary
When EPICs are ranked with the Enhanced Board & Backlog feature disabled, enabling the feature causes the EPICs to be re-ordered and does not consider the rank, ignoring the board filter setting "ORDER BY Rank ASC"
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a KANBAN board with swimlanes = EPICs (with Enhanced Board disabled)
- Rank EPICs using drag&drop to establish any order
- Enable the Enhanced Board & Backlog feature
Expected Results
The order of EPICs should not change and remain ordered by Rank as per filter
Actual Results
The EPICs are re-ordered randomly
Workaround
We would suggest including the epic in the board filter to control the order in which the epic swimlanes display on the board. Or change the ordering of the stories for that epic.
