Description
Issue Summary
Users have the personal options to choose as to whether or not to receive notifications from Jira relating to issues, see https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/manage-your-jira-personal-settings/
However if a user selects to not receive notifications from Jira, that user is still getting email notifications of any errors related to processing of smart commits.
Steps to Reproduce
- In a Jira Cloud site, navigate to your avatar, and select personal settings atlassian.net/secure/ViewPersonalSettings.jspa
- For the setting of "Email notifications for issue activity", set this value to "Don't send me email notifications"
- As a Bitbucket or git user of a connected repo, make a commit message that contains a JSW issue key and an invalid smart commit command such as
Commit message example ABC-123 #time 1h30m
Expected Results
We expect to not receive any email notifications from Jira for this user, because the user has elected not to receive them
Actual Results
- Users are still receiving an "Error processing smart commit" email message.
- We acknowledge that in https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/manage-your-jira-personal-settings/ it notes
You won’t receive any notifications for issue activity but may still receive other email notifications like updates on your Jira site, updates for filter subscriptions, and those regarding your Atlassian account.
- This wording is not clear as to whether the user is expected to get this error message via email at all.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
