One user reported that when he tries to change the issue type of an issue from Bug to Task, he receives the following message:
XXXXXX will lose the relationship with its parent epic.
You're moving this issue away from its parent epic. To avoid losing the relationship between this issue and its parent, move the epic issue as well.
Note: The epic relationship won't be lost when moving between classic projects.
He has never seen this message before and was afraid to continue the process.

We talked to Jira Cloud Issue Frontend team that reported that the only condition for displaying that message is whether or not the issue has an epic set or not.
Whether the user intends to change the project or only the issue type does not play into it.
They suggest this FR to change the message to something like this:
* If XXX-X is already in a company-managed project and you select another company-managed project, the epic link will not be lost.XXX-X may lose the relationship with its parent epic.If you move the project of XXX-X away from its parent epic then the epic link may be lost.
Caveats:
- If you only change the issue type (and not the project too), then the epic link will not be lost.
