Description
Issue Summary
It is not possible to input multiple sprint IDs in the sprint field when bulk changing/moving issues. It only accepts single sprint ID.
Background:
Editing the sprints field value is only possible by performing the bulk operation. (reference: JSWCLOUD-10548: Cloned issues inherit the Completed Sprint value and can't be removed). However, when we perform bulk change, it will not allow us to input multiple sprint IDs. This will cause a loss of sprint field values.
Steps to Reproduce
- search for the affected issues in the Issue Navigator and enter criteria that returns the issue or issues for which you want to remove the Sprint information.
- click ... > Bulk Change issues;
- Choose issues and click Next:
- select Edit Issues and click Next;
- select Change Sprint and add multiple sprint IDs.
- click Next and it will throw this error: "Sprint id must be a number"
Expected Results
User should be able to add multiple sprint IDs and then hit submit.
Actual Results
Only single ID is available.
Workaround
It is possible to update the Sprint fields via CSV import.
Before making any changes:
- Create a Backup of the Jira cloud instance
- Export project data to CSV to have individual project’s backup in case any data mining is required in future.
Workaround Steps
Video Tutorial: CSV Import.mp4
1. Find the Sprint IDs via the Sprint Report URL:
For example, in this URL Sprint ID is 134.
https://fabzytest.atlassian.net/jira/software/c/projects/MSTUSVC/boards/97/reports/sprint-retrospective?sprint=134
Last Completed Sprint 4 ID = 133
Active Sprint 5 ID = 134
2. From Filters → Advanced issue search write a JQL to retrieve the issues that must be updated.
Sprint Data before modification:
project = "My scrum to update sprints via csv" and sprint in (130,131,132,133,134)
2.1 Select Key, Summary, and Sprint columns.
2.2 Select Export → Export Excel CSV ( my defaults).
3. Edit the CSV file and remove the extra Sprint columns.
4. Update the CSV file with the desired Sprint ID.
5. Jira-Administrator go to Settings-> System → External System Import → CSV.
6. All the columns must be mapped during the import.
7. Beign Import
Sprint Data after CSV import:
project = "My scrum to update sprints via csv" and Sprint is not EMPTY
