    Description

      Connected Github organizations do not show in the Project Settings -> Toolchain unless committing a Jira issue from GitHub.

      How to reproduce:

      • Create a new Organisation in GitHub
      • Create a repository in GitHub under that Organisation
      • Go to Jira and connect the GitHub organization
      • Go to a Project settings -> Toolchain -> Add -> GitHub -> can't see the new Organisation to connect unless it has already have a committed Jira issue.

      At the moment the Github for Jira doesn't send any information to Jira unless it contains a valid issue key, and only then will Jira know about repositories.

      It will be nice if we could send all repositories to Jira on backfill so that Jira knows about it, currently, there is no API that will allow that unless it has a valid issue key.

      Note from product team:

      We appreciate your feedback here. We recognise that this experience is confusing and we are working on a fix this quarter (FY23 Q4/Q1).

      The authentication for container connections from the Toolchain Page occurs via OAuth and this is managed separately from the authentication and connection from the Github for Jira app, although it may have the illusion of doing so.

      Please follow the workaround below ⬇️

      Workaround

      • Go to Github.com and click on your profile photo on top right-hand corner
      • Select Your Organisations
      • Under Integrations -> Applications. https://github.com/settings/applications
      • Select the 3rd tab Authorized OAuth Apps
      • Click on Atlassian Cloud
      • Under Organization access make sure access is granted for all the organisations
