Using {{fieldChange}} to populate Labels during issue creation will fail

XMLWordPrintable

      Issue Summary

The smart value fieldChange can be used to use the value a field changed to during an action.

Currently, if you try to populate the field Labels with a value from a select list field by using the fieldChange smart value it will fail with an error stating that the value contains a space:

      Error editing issues
      B2R-9 (The label '{self=https://unlimitedjiraworks.atlassian.net/rest/api/2/customFieldOption/10209, value=option-b, id=10209}' can't contain spaces. (labels))

      Steps to Reproduce

      • Create an automation rule based on the change of a field (select list) that will populate the field Labels with that value:
      • Create an issue, selecting a value for the field you are using as the criteria.

      Expected Results

The field labels will be populated with the value that was selected during the issue's creation.

      Actual Results

The field will not be populated and an error will be logged in the rule's audit log.

      Workaround

Use an action based on the issue created trigger, and simply copy the value selected to the labels field using smart values:
