Issue Summary

When using a filter that will filter out all the issue in an epic (Epic is in cross project/same project), in the board settings when swimlane is selected as Epic, we see empty board rather than issues part of the Epic.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a filter which has a Epic link
      2. Create a board with the filter.
      3. In the board settings, choose swimlanes as "Epic".
      4. You will see empty board.

This occurs even if the filter has epics within the same project.

      Expected Results

Epic name should be there is in the swimlane and the related child issues in the board.

      Actual Results

      Workaround

To use other swimlanes instead of Epic

[JRACLOUD-91250] Epic swimlane does not work as expected

            Hi 7bd5bc3e63c1
I am not using the Cloud instance, however, this ticket best describes how to replicate the problem if you did have teams report persistence of issue JSWSERVER-11318 Stories from external epics disappear in swimlanes

This is a much needed and overdue feature.  You can have swimlanes on every other field/classification.  Epics are standard and should be a standard option for swimlanes.  We don't want to use the scrum board because we want a kanban board that shows everything, not just the current sprint.

            Agree with Allison -

the impact is high (missing issues on the Active sprint board) and is difficult (if not impossible) to troubleshoot for the vast majority of your users.

Here is another open ticket for this: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-11318

It's been open since 2014; this is a pretty bad bug to have in your product for 7 years without fixing it because it silently hides tickets from the very UI that is designed for people to use for their entire workflow. As a software engineer this feels like the kind of thing that could be fixed in 15 mins, because each issue in a filter already has a reference to its parent/epic.
