As a cloud user, I would like to be able to apply background colors to the full card width on the board, so that I can improve visibility

      As of today, I can assign card colors based on a number of criteria including work item type, assignee, or arbitrary JQL queries.  However, the color only applies to the left hand edge of the card.

      In many cases, I prefer to see a background color across the entire card.    The Ascend Card Colors plugin enables this capability for Jira Server and Data Center, but it does not work the same way for Cloud.    Perhaps there is a missing API or something.

      In my opinion this is a capability that should be built in to Jira, as it is in most other Kanban or Scrum tools.   In fact, it would be great if there were a set of 6 or 8 pre-set pastel colors available for use.   You have to use very pale pastels otherwise the color is annoying and overwhelming, and in my experience it takes hours to pick all the perfect colors.   So Atlassian could save us tons of time and aggravation by putting this capability into the tool.

      There could be a checkbox:

      ___ apply colors to left hand edge of card

      ___ apply colors to the entire card background

      BTW, we know that this capability is possible, because a cards is colorized in yellow if flagged = impediment is set on a card.   All we are suggesting is to generalize this existing capability!

            For anyone wishing to apply a workaround for this missing capability with a custom css script, I was able to achieve the effect of widening the colour bar with below.

            Chrome browser extension -[ User JavaScript and CSS |https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/user-javascript-and-css/nbhcbdghjpllgmfilhnhkllmkecfmpld?hl=en-US&utm_source=ext_sidebar]

            Then below CSS:

            div[data-component-selector="software-backlog-card-container"] > div:nth-child(3) {
              width: 12px;
            }

            This has the effect of widening the bar 3 times so that the colours become more distinguishable like in screenshot below

            What a difference this simple widening makes!

            HTH

            definitely +1

            If you (have to) use Jira for Kanban projects you need more options to distinguish within the workflow. A workflow might have numerous columns. If you use e.g. "waiting for (doing x)" and "doing X" it is so helpful to have both status in one culumn X but need to seperate actively managed issues from those who are waiting to be done.

            Please add this feature. Currently, I have to rely on the Jira Boost browser extension to achieve this effect. Would love this to be supported officially by Jira.
