      User Story:
      As a Product Manager

I want to add Milestones to my Roadmap

So that I can visually communicate significant dates on my roadmap to stakeholders

      Acceptance Criteria

      1. User can create milestone(s) against a roadmap.
      2. User can give the milestone a name and description(and specify a date)
      3. Milestones should appear as lines on the chart (similar to the way current date works).
      4. The user can drag the milestone to different dates.
      5. The user should see the name of a milestone is on the roadmap view.
      6. User can add and remove milestones from the view using the filters above the main chart.
      7. A user can select a milestone to edit or delete it.

            [JRACLOUD-91595] Milestones for Basic Roadmaps

            Using Releases works...

            • shows on timeline
            • issues can be associated with it
            • allows for other context and details to be saved with the release

            The drawbacks I see...

            • can be a little overkill if you just want a marker
            • not visible on boards (where my devs spend 95%) of there time

I created an Issue Type for milestones and plan on using that in combination with Releases to cover both angles.

As a workaround, we provide milestones on Gantt charts for free here: https://www.visor.us/

            WORKAROUND:

If you’re not using Releases for software development, you can utilize this functionality to create milestones.

            Steps:

            1. DEVELOPMENT > Releases > Create a realease with "release date" as the date of the milestone.
            2. Timeline > View Settings > Enable "Releases" (if not)
            3. Timeline > Clic on your release (milestone) and check "Highligth on timeline"

Enjoy your new milestone line in the roadmap

Milestones (or releases) should also display as a vertical line across the entire roadmap. Not just a single dot at the top.

How many votes are required before Atlassian promotes a request to the backlog and executes it? This request has 2200+ votes to do this!

I would like to see the ability to automatically create and display a milestone on the Initiative based on a specific collection of lower-level issues (epics, stories).  For example, assume a simple collection such as this:

I would like to display a "MVP" milestone at the Initiative level that was determined by the completion of the two stories with the MVP label; same with the two stories that have the NTH tag ("Nice to Have").  If the timing of those stories changed, the milestone displayed at the initiative level would adjust accordingly.
