Allow gadgets to show statistics using story points instead of issue counts

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

This is a follow-up to GHS-4802, which was closed, but not really addressed in my opinion.

We are using Jira and Jira Agile. Our users are asking for the ability of Jira gadgets to support showing data in terms of story points instead of issue counts. For example, for whatever statistic type is chosen for a Pie Chart gadget, we would like the ability to show the total story points for each type instead of issue counts. Or for the Two Dimensional Filter Statistics gadget, there should be an option to show the data in terms of story points instead of issue counts. The idea is to show data in terms of a story point budget.

In Jira Agile, even if the estimation statistic for a board is set to Story Points, there's no agile report that can show the data we're looking for. This should have nothing to to with classic boards, which I understand that Atlassian is de-supporting.

We need the basic summing up of story points or story point estimates (custom fields or not). How have more people not voted for this or this not a feature that has been added yet?

Using widgets are extremely limited in terms of all what fields you can use including filters created. Even the two dimensional widget limits you to two dimensions but you really need to be able to drilldown many more fields together in order to see and track improvements.

            E.g. Epic>Issue-Type>Sprint>Assignee>Story point estimate

clearly, nobody is paying attention.  This is a a pretty obvious feature request.

This feature would help our team track, report, and compare pointed vs unpointed issues in a sprint or other time interval.

I believe JIRA should add the flexibility to create report based on Story points vs labels and other fields available. It helps to keep track of effort / generate report for management etc.

This should have been a feature from day-1. Story point estimation is baked into Jira. Why on earth can't we build workload reports using story points?

I cannot believe this isn't functionality that is offered with Jira by default.  How are teams supposed to make sure that workloads are evenly distributed?  We have to pay extra for this??

Hey everyone, as it has been 6 years since this ticket was opened we decided to add this feature to our app Custom Charts for Jira.

You can now create pie, bar and funnel charts showing the number of  Story Points

You can try the app right now on our free interactive playground.

There are lots of other features in Custom Charts including re-arranging the order of segments, changing the colors, renaming, hiding options and more!

            Two-dimensional statistics are coming soon.

I hope that's what you are looking for.

            Thanks,

Tom - Custom Charts Product Manager

Desperately needed by our development teams - I've been asked about the following use-cases just in the past week:

            • Create a two-dimensional filter widget with story points per assignee in a sprint
            • A pie chart showing the number of story points per story\epic in a sprint
            • Show a filter results table including story points column for all stories by assignee.

My teams are frustrated that they have to revert to spreadsheets to get total story points per person per sprint. This is information needed for planning and reporting.  Since it's just a number it's odd that the Story Points field isn't an available option on the two-dimensional filter or pie chart gadgets.  Is there any plan to add it anytime soon?

Actually, we have recently started to use Rich Filters for JIRA and we're very happy.
The statistic gadgets show, besides issue count, the sum of story points and other numerical and time tracking fields which is exactly what we needed. The plug-in also lets us add quick filters for dashboards so that we can easily focus on sprints, epics, assignee, components etc and any combination of these. Give it a try.

I have JIRA server. Arsenal is extremely limited.
Please tell me how I can answer this information: % complete by story points based on a JQL?
If you are referring to this https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/273415/pie-chart-in-jira-depicting-the-story-points-distribution-among-stories

All it does is tell me that 40% of stories are 13 story points which is pointless. I want to know what % completion a project is by story points.
