Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.
The rollout of this feature is in progress and should be completed by 16 January (excluding Enterprise Release Tracks).

[JSDCLOUD-10709] Form Field: Support Insight/Assets fields
Hello
sorry to jump in, but am i missing something?
i have added the field in the form, checked in preview and works great
But then when i save and go back to the issue, add the formand check the drop down doesn't return anything.
Thanks in advance
Good afternoon. Is additional information available regarding Enterprise Release Tracks for the Insight/Asset field capability in ProForma/Forms within JSM DataCenter?
Ok so this feature allows us to link a form field to a Jira assets custom field.
I hoped to be able to specify the AQL in the form configuration without having to link it to a Jira custom field.
If we we want another subset of values in different sections of the from to have a dynamic form we need to create a Jira custom field for each one. This makes the convenience of using forms less interesting.
03c822d7804dThank you for asking this question.
This is currently not an option in Forms but we are starting to track the interest in viewing the attribute data with Forms here https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSDCLOUD-12222
Didn't see this mentioned anywhere, is there any plan to allow an assets field in a form to show attributes? Natively when an assets field is on a request form, you can configure which attributes to show (i.e. Manufacturer, Support Team, etc.)
Is there any way to set a default value to the asset fields? Its the most requested functionality across all of my clients.
Thank you for that @artursalamon, i did not think to publish the form and just reviewed it in preview mode. This will probably help others as well so very good catch.
Good spot @artursalamon - I did notice that a lot of the fields do not work as expected in preview - User selection is one example - works fine on the portal but not in form preview.
@Krister Broman [Advania]
But it seems to work. Only issue is that on 'preview' screen in Forms its not working. But on Customer Portal, with in Request form (with Forms ofc!) its working properly.
Filtering based on other field input also seem to be off. I am guessing that this is since forms have not yet added any data to a field.
Is there any way of referencing the form field to filter on?
Example: I filter module based on application
Field: Application
Filter scope (AQL): objectTypeId = 4 AND Status = Operation
Field: Application Module
Filter scope (AQL): objectTypeID =85 and Status = Operation
Filter issue scope (AQL): object HAVING outboundReferences("Name" = ${customfield_10104.label})
This works fine in Service Management Portal and in Jira.
So the question is can the filter issue scope in the second field reference the form instead i.e something like "object HAVING outboundReferences("Name" = ${form.label})"
You can use the section query to show another form field based on the selection in Application, however that is not really sufficient if we are looking at hundreds of options in the primary field that each have its own options in the second field.
Hello Folks,
One step forwards and one back.....
As Davide mentions above, its a real shame that the Form based version of the Asset field only is able to show the name and not any other attributes. Is this something that is due to be addressed?
Update 9 January 2023
The rollout of this feature is in progress and should be completed by 16 January 2023 (excluding Enterprise Release Tracks).
To access insight/asset fields in a form, add the asset field to the form and then link it to an existing asset custom field.
Has not shown up for me in any of the sites I have access to. Hope to see it soon.
it automatically appears.
you have to configure a custom field based on assets to be used in the form definition
there you can
- enter an AQL filter issue scope
- use them in LookupObject, e.g. objectType = XYZ AND "Name" = "issue.customfield_11111.Name"
I'm trying to understand
- how to enter a default value on the portal: in the custom field configuration there is only a toggle "Display a default object when this field appears in a customer portal" but not the possibility to enter the value
- how to select with attributes need to be displayed (it only shows the Name). Other fields, if defined as searchable, can be used to limit the list of value, even if they are not displayed
issues:
- an assets field does NOT show all the possible values in the list on the portal, even if they exist and you can select them by typing them in the field. It simply stops showing the value after the 50th on the list. This is quite confusing for users who are used to scroll down the list to find the value to be selected
Do we need to change anything in the settings or does it "automatically" appear?
Good news everyone - I happened to check my Forms Builder today and there is a new field type called Asset Objects which does indeed link back to Assets so it looks like its being/been released - would have been good to know thoug
Any news on the likely delivery date for this feature please? This will allow us to properly use Forms and Assets in JSM to provide a really great experience for our customers and colleagues. Any news would be most welcome!
I'd too would appreciate if you could share the delivery date for this release.
Hi,
What date will the Feature be released?
We have global customers who need this feature later this year.
Thanks.
We definitely need this feauture, as we organize our services using insight objects. The way it is now, we can't connet that information to our support-forms. Any update on when this feauture will be available?
How far is this project, is there already a definitve date for the rollout?
If this is implemented, I could finally use a form for our onboardings!
Linking the form with insight to choose between objects like what Laptop will be deployed, which smartphone will be given and automaticly link these things in insight to the coworker would be really great, no time need anymore for further maintanance of these things
I hope thes functions will be build in, or at least possible by Jira-Automation...
If there would be also a possibility to insert a picture of a signature, and save the form plus signature as a pdf to the coworker-object, then this would be also perfect for documentation!
(Regarding a release for certain equipment as an example)
Definitely a much needed feature to support our use of Insight in JSM with Forms - please keep us posted as to development.
+1 This is an essential feature.
Think of, when you have a custom field as a mandatory field for the customer. In this case you are not able to use forms (at the moment)
+1 Yes, we need to be able to add Insight fields into Proforma Forms. Without this, it means we can't add any conditional custom fields to be displayed/hidden based on selection of the insight field.
We hope this capability will be available soon, as we are currently working on related setup
I think this is an essential feature for users to use Insight. I would strongly urge the addition of this feature.

Good Afternoon,
Its been a couple months and I don't see any Information regarding Josh's question about the Enterprise Release Track for the Insight/Asset field capability in ProForma/Forms within JSM DataCenter?
Can we get any information regarding this?
Thanks!
