The date custom field gets set to 01-01-01 if the default value is "now" and the field does not appear on the issue creation screen

      The problem is that the "now" date is actaully converted to the date in the view template. If the field is not shown than this conversion never occurs.

      This is likely affecting Date Time fields as well.
