We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.
Currently it is not possible to configure the time tracking fields for the issue detail view in the Kanban Boards.
We would like to see this become possible.
I have found a couple of related posts in the community, but no actual suggestion here:
[JRASERVER-66973] Make Time Tracking fields available for configuration in issue detail view in Kanban boards
Jira: You can configure the issue and issue detail views to have whatever fields you want!
Me: Awesome! Let's add the time tracking fields since we use those all the time
Jira: No
Please Make Time Tracking fields available for configuration in issue detail view in Kanban boards or at least provide us a work around.
Would love to see this feature implemented to be able to have information about each issue progress at a glance.
Hi Team, please enable the possibility to display the Time Tracking panel on the Kanban Board. This is very vital for the efficiency and productivity of our team. Would highly appreciate when this feature goes into Consideration.
I've spent too long trying to figure out how to work around this. It seems that all our customer fields can show up in the issue detail view on a board's backlog, but somehow the "estimation" fields are explicitly forbidden? It's very frustrating. I almost thought about switching to using story points, since those DO show up, but then I'm breaking the definition of story points. Oof.
im not sure we will see any suggestions implemented with the cloud first or rather cloud only policy going on
We would very much like this feature so our developers are able to quickly see Time Estimation at a glance in the Issue Detail view.
It is even stranger when you know that this functionality is implemented in Jira Cloud!!
Not sure why this one could not be implemented the same way as scrum board. But I hope to effort to add them is not too big, since the pieces were there.
Don't they expect Kanban board to track any effort?
There are not many Kanban teams in each case. And this may be one reason why they can not use Kanban more widely.
Please implement this to help us using Kanban more effectively
2 years of gathering interest... I guess a lot of interest needs to be gathered....
Being able to estimate an issue is crucial in all workflows, even Kanban. +1

Although, we use the add-on "Epic Sum Up" in order to resolve this. There you got a Epic based display of time tracking related information of all issues in Epic.
+1
And I was pretty much just going to write what @Brandon Gillespie wrote verbatim (nice job)!
We use the issue details view for quickly running down the backlog and editing major fields: priority, component, assignee AND estimate. We currently do this from a scrum board (because it can't be done from kanban board).
Per Vlad's comment, I can confirm that once added, time tracking fields now show up in the default issue screen for Kanban boards.
However, it still does not show up as an option when adding fields to the Issue Detail View.
You can also now add time tracking fields to the card layout in Kanban boards (this was a big issue for me); however, if I add "Original Estimate" to the card layout, it shows up in it's own line of text (which makes the card much larger). In Scrum boards, this field would show up as a grey badge to the side of the card; using this same styling for Kanban would be preferable.
Greetings,
You can enable it. Go to Project Settings (@admin dashboard), go to Field Configurations, Find the Time Tracking section and click Screens (left side of screen). A list of screens that do not have it included are displayed. tick the required ones and save. It should now be enabled on those project pages you selected.
Given the fact that the kanban board recently got an update and you can have time tracking for task, you can pretty much do some SCRUMBAN from the kanban board
in order to vote for this you need to log in and press the vote on the right.... I dont think commenting +1 helps...
+1 Totally agree with Brandon Gillespie. We track issues for Operations and DevOps in Jira, and want to work off priority, but also need to estimate every request that comes in. I currently do this by using both a Scrum (project work, backlog grooming) and Kanban (triage, short-time tasks). If the estimate field were on the detail view I could move solely to Kanban board and use Scrumban.
PLEASE ENABLE! You need to estimate work effort, even in a Kanban world. Thinking otherwise is missing the entire point – Scrum only works well in a perfect world (which is more like waterfall). As you get into devops where you have unpredictable work hitting you every day (operations/support) you NEED Kanban, but that doesn't mean you need to stop estimating! I love that you added the Epics/backlog so we can do a 'Scrumban' style approach, but we are still missing estimates.
Agile Manifesto: Individuals and interactions over processes and tools...
So let us configure the tools to meet our processes so we can focus on the Individuals and Interactions without the tools getting in the way
The work estimate is necessary to be able to indicate to those working the backlog to know the impact of making a change in card order. There is no out-of-box way to indicate the significance of a card, and estimates are already builtin for Jira, why hide them in Kanban? Shuffling one card with a minor work effort and replacing it with one that is gigantic should be known–estimates do this.
Please implement this.
