            Melissa,

            I think the problem is surfacing as you are using JDK 1.5. I believe we fixed the JDK 1.5. compatibility in JIRA 3.2.1:
            http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-6895

            If you try using the screenshot applet on this issue , does it work?

            Thanks,
            Anton

            If you have jdk 1.4.2 installed that should be fine. The applet needs jdk 1.4 or above to run.

            When the engineer checked in a jar, where was the jar obtained from? Do you know the reason it was originally missing from JIRA? I just want to ensure the jar is not corrupt?

            Would you be able to visit this page:
            http://java.sun.com/applets/archive/beta/Abacus/index.html
            Does the applet in the page work correctly?

            Does the JIRA screenshot applet work on any other PC where jdk 1.4.2 is also installed?

            When you were getting the error message where was it displayed? In the Java Console? The Java Colsole should appear as a little coffee cup in the bottom right corner in your program bar. If you run click on it and select Open Console the Java console should appear. Please open the JIRA attachscreeshot applet, do you see any error messages displaying the error.

            Sorry for all these questions. It is very difficult to determine the exact cause of the error for this problem.

            Thanks,
            Anton

            I forgot to mention that before my Windows XP installation, I had the following error message when I tried the "attach screenshot".

            ===================================================
            java.lang.NullPointerExceptionload: class com.atlassian.jira.screenshot.applet.ScreenshotApplet not found.
            =================================================================

            The technical engineer checked in the jar and that class was not installed.

            Isn't it related somehow ?

            Hi,

            I've checked my JRE version and it's the 1.4.2.

            If I want to make the "attach screenshot" work, does that mean that I have to go back to jre 1.3 ?

            .....or switch to JIRA 3.0 but this is another topic....

            Please comment.

            Sorry, I missed that you are usoing JIRA 2.6. In JIRA 2.6 we had a bug where the required jre was specified as 1.3. This was resolved in JIRA 3.0.

            Hi,

            The Screen Shot applet requires jre 1.4 to work. MS Explorer should detect that you have only jre 1.3 installed and ask you if you would liek to update. Are you behind a firewall or proxy that prevent it from doing this?

            Coul you download the latest jre from here:
            http://www.java.com/

            and install in manually.

            Thanks,
            Anton
