Hi.

Despite looking through the reasonably good documents on the site I cannot find anything that works well either as a user guide or administrator guide. I started writing these myself (rough drafts attached) but I think someone somewhere must have done the same thing!! I realise everyone's implementations are different but basic features such as issue linking, filtering, components driving assignees , etc. all work the same.

This is a time consuming task but it is necessary if I am to hand over this application to our support teams. Any help welcome.

      Thanks, Scott.

[JRASERVER-5818] Is there a admin user guide or user guide anywhere?

            Hi Denis,

Thanks for your input on this topic. As you can see from the linked issue, we are planning on creating a Jira Usage Guide, that should provide the required division between uses. Feel free to watch the issue for further updates on its progress.

            Thanks,
            Brian

            Hi Keith,

The JIRA documentation is indeed very clear and concise. However, the user-friendly part is depends on the context and goals of the user. What seems to be lacking is the organization of topics into two groups, one for each audience - administrators and users.

My guess as to the organization would be:

JIRA User Guide - Concepts and Usage Guides from the lastest documentation, and some excerpts from the administration topics so the user has a some knowledge about how JIRA can be customized or extended.

JIRA Administration Guide - all other topics (installation, configuration, integration, extension, etc)

            Best Regards,
            Dennis
