      It would be nice if screenshots were displayed inline with the comments. i.e. allow a user to attach a screenshot as part of the CreateIssue page. When showing comments on the summary screen the thumbnail could be displayed inline with the comment. This could help give context to the images.

            [JRASERVER-3669] Show image attachments inline with comments

            Sounds good to me. That is the key issue, that the comments and the screenshots are disconnected.

            Paul,

            I think the problem is that the comments that are added when adding screenshots or attachments is not associated with them, but is shown as a regular comment on the issue. The improvement request for this is JRA-1844. Do you think we can resolve this issue as a duplicate and track progress on this using JRA-1844?

            Thanks,
            Anton

            Though inline images are possible with the new Wiki syntax, I don't think this is as simple as it could be. If I create an issue or a comment and attach a screenshot at the same time I think there is a fighting chance that I would like the screenshot displayed inline with my comment or description. My screenshots are almost always associated with a comment or description and not with the issue itself. The wiki syntax still has screenshots associated with the issue.

            In addition, the user making the comment needs to know how to type something like [^screenshot.gif] as apposed to just needing to attach the image and have it do the right thing.

            Forgot the link to the test issue:

            Paul,

            As you can add comments in the Attach File screen and Attach Screenshot screen, you can do this in one step using wiki.

            For example, the following Test issue, I attached a file and referenced it in the comment using wiki markup.

            Cheers,
            Nick

            Wiki style syntax supports help, but I don't know if that is necessary (or even the best way). I was thinking more along the lines of allowing the screenshot applet to be used when entering a comment (or creating an issue) instead of needing a separate step. Then I could type some text and add an image and Jira would just show the image inline after the text as part of the comment. For instance, a comment pseudo-html might look like:

            <div class="comment">
            <p>This is a comment about this issue that just happened.</p>
            <img src="../images/screenshot1.gif" alt="screenshot"/>
            </div>

            This probably relates to Wiki syntax support (to provide a syntax for referencing images).
