NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

At my company we use a shared google calendar to denote more detailed information about versions release schedule, as well as company events, etc.

It would be most useful to show this on the JIRA dashboard. The Google calendar is very easy to embed, but we can't do it in JIRA on demand as the text gadget is (rightly) not available there.

I think you should offer a very simple widget where the user just configures the link to an iFrame source. The list of sources can be limited to only well-known, safe web sites such as google calendar. Or the entire widget can be about google calendar only.

The link looks something like this:
      http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=identifierhere%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/Denver"

Due to the large volume of JIRA feature suggestions, we have to prioritise our development efforts. In part, that means concentrating on those issues that resonate the most with our users.

I am writing this note to advise you, that we have decided to close your Suggestion as it has not gained traction on jira.atlassian.com. We believe being upfront and direct with you will assist you in your decision making rather than believing Atlassian will eventually address this issue.

Thank you again for your suggestion and if you have any concerns or question, please don’t hesitate to email me.

            Kind Regards,
