Description
It appears that while writing a JQL function module, even though the validate method returns an error, JIRA is still attempting to execute the query via getValues(). I discovered this problem in JIRA 5.0.6 while writing a custom plugin which in part checks to see how many results would be returned and if some upper threshold is reached, don't execute the query. The validate performs this check correctly and returns a new MessageSet with the error set, however, JIRA still executes the getValues method which actually then performs the query. To get around this, I have to re-execute the validate method in the getValues, however, this seems to contradict the purpose of the validate method in the JqlFunction class.
