Workflow diagram doesn't match with workflow inside designer

      From: https://studio.plugins.atlassian.com/browse/JWD-36

Worklfow diagram doesn't match with workflow inside of the workflow designer. I've tried to adjust the layout several times by now and it still doesn't show the correct saved layout. Even deleting every step and recreate the whole workflow again doesn't work.

This is a constant source of frustration. Trying to put JIRA into an established enterprise with lots of old, mature tools – problems like this perpetuate the belief that JIRA is not mature and not ready for enterprise. It doesn't matter how well the workflow functions... when a user sees crisscrossed lines and misplaced transition labels it leaves them with a very bad first impression.

I can imagine that still taking deleted elements into account could cause some weird effects, but from the symptoms I'm seeing, it's not obvious that that's the only thing that's going on. Do you have any way of finding out for sure?

Believe that the cause is that when you delete a transition it is logically deleted and the workflow designer knows this, however the workflow viewer may not exclude all logically deleted elements from its retrieval

Please fix this - it's been driving me up the wall! I've created an account here purely so that I can vote for this issue!

The particular problems I see are:

            • Transition line endpoints move from where I put them to the centre of the state box. (Starts and ends.)
            • Transition labels move, downwards, by approximately the height of the label.

This is all within the workflow designer: position things as desired, save the layout, then re-visit the same page (click in URL bar and press enter). Result: things move about. Using the Load Saved Layout button puts the labels back where I put them, but doesn't restore the transition endpoints to the right place.

Not every transition line is affected, nor is every transition label. Nor is it always the same transition where line and label are both affected.

I have more or less the same as mentioned in this issue, but even more so what happens in the workflow of this particular issue!! If you click the "view workflow" option next to the Status option, you'll see that it's a complete mess... I'm sure the developer who created this workflow didn't do this... home there's some help soon.

I've found a work around that may help with this issue. I posted the comment and attachments on JRA-25548 under "Issue Links".

Yep - click on "View workflow" above in this issue and Atlassian are having the same problem. Shame, as my users have been asking for workflow visualisation since 2008 and I thought I had it sorted.

This is a very annoying bug that makes the workflow designer a real pain. In addition if a user decides to click 'View Workflow' the rendered workflow is a joke!

            +1
            Also affects 4.4.4
Please fix this. It's terrible spending hours for designing the perfect workflow and only get a bunch of screwed arrows at the end.
