    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently there is no button to automatically collapse or expand all sprints in the Backlog (previously Plan mode). It will be handy for those with multiple sprints being planned ahead of time.

I have developed a straightforward chrome extension so it is easier to collapse/expand backlog.

you can download it from Jira backlog expander

I'm glad to see this issue is still gathering interest.

We have been asking for this since 2017....it would be very, very useful to have this functionality.

            Pretty please?

+1, default option not required rather shortcut, e.g., "-", to toggle expand/collapse, same as for active sprint

+1 for me as well.  Would be ideal when the sprint is collapsed that it takes as little space as possible

Another vote for me on this request.
I need all of the Sprints in the Backlog to be collapsed by Default.
Each Sprint section contains a lot of cards and it is really annoying and time consuming having to scroll on each Sprint to collapse them one by one in order for us to focus on the Sprint section that we only need.

Additionally, after a hard effort of collapsing all of the Sprints one-by-one, when we accidentally refreshes the backlog page, it refreshes with all of the Sprint sections expanded again. Imagine how difficult that is for all of your users? I hope this will get prioritize as it adds a great value to your users.

Hello, indeed, this would be really helpful... we have a lot sprints planned (monthly for whole year over different projects), so when being able to close all sprints at once and only open the sprint that is being discussed, would be really great! (preferably under a key-shortcut or combination of keys)

Ps: some suggestions for the analysis/dev-team:

*all lists with sub-items in should be collapsable/expandable in any page-view => solution fixed for all pages where collapsable/expandable master & sub-lists appear...

*for UX-consistency: if something is dev'd/released on mobile (or desktop) make it also immediately available for both environments => more consistent on user-experience... (eg. the expland/collapse all sprints is available on mobile, but not on desktop... that is bit strange... means the desktop & mobile team work on different business/user-requirements?)

In GitHub you use the 'Alt' key in combination with mouse click to collapse/expand all. That works pretty well.

Ahh, understood. Thanks for the quick response. If anyone has time to work this out for Jira Cloud, that would be great. More nice-to-have than have-to-have for me personally, but it looks like some people would find it really valuable.

Whoops, I indeed tested this only in Jira server. I don't have access to Jira Cloud to test it, although it works on the board at https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/RapidBoard.jspa?rapidView=2095&view=planning&issueLimit=100 for me

I like the idea of this, @jessetan, but it didn't work for me in Chrome for Mac. Might that be for the server version of Jira, not Cloud?

Workaround (works in Chrome), add a bookmarklet with the following as URL:

            javascript:closeAll=false;if($(".ghx-backlog-container.ghx-open").length){closeAll=true;}for(const sprint of $(".ghx-backlog-container")) { sprint.classList.replace(closeAll?"ghx-open":"ghx-closed",closeAll?"ghx-closed":"ghx-open");}

Would like this feature to act the same way as the Sprint page's ability to expand/collapse Swimlanes - but for Sprints on the Backlog page.

As others have commented above, when planning for future Sprints, if a Sprint has 10-20+ issues, and you have an active sprint, and 2 future sprints - there is a lot of scrolling required to get to the Backlog.

This would be a high-value enhancement for our teams. Our backlog contains several sprints and it's cumbersome and slow to navigate to scroll through them. The ability to collapse all with a single click would be a welcome option.

Why has this not been built yet? Ive got at least 10 sprints to manage and its annoying to have to collapse them all manually.

My team also has multiple (12 or more) future sprints on the backlog so that we may proactively plan 12 to 18 months of work in advance. PLEASE provide "collapse all sprints" functionality. My mouse scroll wheel also thanks you in advance!  Thank you. Graeme

This is important to my team's work as well. I as well run concurrent sprints for two different, but related teams, and plan several sprints out in order to estimate effort and project release delivery. Collapse/Expand All would help greatly.
