      JIRA 2.6 has a release notes generator. However its design assumes a human will cut/paste the notes somewhere. Many people want to suck in release notes during an automated (eg. Ant-driven) release process, and would like a single URL that fetches just the release notes in text or HTML format.

            This should be added to the API so that developers can automatically retrieve the release notes for a specific project release

            I need the release notes available with the API, to automate it to post to the confluence wiki. Hope it can be released soon.

            This should be definitely available somewhere. It's necessary to automate the deployment

            I suggest two things:

            • Add a parameter, let's say format=flat (a bit like Jenkins is doing) to get only the text
            • Add something to the REST API to retrieve release notes in text format
