Hi Everyone,
I want to provide a quick update for this topic. This feature, support linking an external web link, is currently rolled out to 100% of Jira cloud users, you will be able to see it in a drop-down menu next to "Link issues" in the action menu in the new issue view.

Hi Everyone,
I want to provide a quick update for this topic. We started the work on this feature, support linking an external web link, and aiming to roll it out in the next couple of weeks and it will include all the existing functionality that was on the old issue view. I know this has taken a while to build out, but rebuilding Jira issues is no small feat, so we very much appreciate your patience on this.
In the meantime, you can opt out of this new issue experience via your Personal Settings > Jira Labs section will have a 'new issue view' toggle to turn it on or off. We will not be disabling this opt-out option until we have rebuilt all the key features of the Jira issues experience you have come to know and love.

Summary
It is not possible to add external web links to issues with the new issue view. Also any external web links on existing issues are no longer accessible under the new issue view.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create an issue in the old issue view.
- Click the link button and choose external web link.
- Save issue.
- Change to new issues view.
Expected Results
The external web link should be viewable somewhere on the issue and there should be the ability to create new ones.
Actual Results
Unable to existing access external web links or create new ones.
Notes
Workaround
Disable the new issue view. For that follow the steps below:
- Select your avatar and choose Profile
- Turn off the New Jira issue view toggle under Labs
Another option is to append below text to the URL of the issue you are viewing:
?oldIssueView=true
