Tables won't be rendered in the comments nor in the description if edited through the new issue detail view

      Summary

      If you try to build a table via the new issue detail view, the final result will be in plain text:

      But if you go to the issue view and comment the very same table, it will work:
       

      It will even display correctly in the detail view:

      It is the same behaviour with the description field.

      Jira Cloud

      Steps to Reproduce

      • In a board view, click on a card (issue):
        • Build a table in the comment field:
          Test Task
          Test able rendering
        • Click on Save and check that the result is in plain text.
      • Now in the view screen of the very same issue, comment the same table. You will see that it will render correctly;
      • Get back to the issue's detail view, the last commented table will be correctly rendered as well.

      Expected Results
      The table should render when you add a comment via the detail view as well.

      Actual Results
      When commenting via the detail view, the result is plain text.

      Workaround
      Add the table via the issue view screen.

            You may feel that this is a duplicate of the other issue, but this is a new Issue in Jira "New Issue View" - your existing issue has been open since some time in 2017 and has not been fixed and shows no progress,   This removes existing functionality in a new release which is unacceptable.

            Any chance the priority could be increased on this?

            As with the comments above, my teams use tables in description a lot. This issue is causing increased distraction and frustration every time we encounter a table not being rendered as on the old view. We are continually having to switch to the old view to view the details in our tickets.

            Please provide an ETA for this, my team uses tables to organize the issues tests, and it's really frustrating not having this working.

            What is the ETA for this to be fixed in the new issue detail view?    This is causing a breakdown of the process for my team, as we post tables in the descriptions of many of our tickets, and switching back and forth between the two views is adding high levels of frustration.
