Summary

The behavior of what view the application defaults to when choosing a project is inconsistent and can cause confusion. JIRA should be defaulting to list view, yet it often returns to Detail View, which some users do not want. This appears to be a caching issue, though at this point we are unsure.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Select a project and view the list of issues. You will see either the list view, or the issue view.
      2. Attempt to do this in incognito mode. The view in incognito mode will often be the opposite.

      Expected Results

The view should remain consistent through usage, and should always be either list view or issue view.

      Actual Results

The view the application defaults to changes, and is not consistent.

[JRACLOUD-65127] List View and Issue View Inconsistent in Browser

Oswaldo, this is repeated when another user, with her own id, views issues. If I am the only one in the project, there are no problems. I'm not following how I can give you more than that. You have my environment information. It seems to me that this must be a server side issue. Is there really no way to check logs, or view my account info?

This ticket is a result of a support ticket. That person says that he reproduced the problem.

Please let me know what else I can tell you to get this resolved.

Without clear reproduction instructions that reliably reproduce the problem, there's not much our development team can do to move this issue forwards.

If you would like to, our support team can help you try to come up with the reproduction scenario so we can look at this, you can contact them at https://support.atlassian.com

This is still not fixed for me. When my client logs in and changes the view to detail, it also changes for me. This always happens when I log in in the morning.

This happened to me again this morning. Upon startup, my issue screen went back to detail mode, by itself.

I shall bother you on this JIRA no further

Exactly. Don't turn it off, it's useful, but please remember my choice to use it or not properly.

We're using JIRA Software in the Cloud. I set our board to not show Detail View, then I click on an issue, I get Detail View. I've restarted Chrome, cleared the cache and re-restarted, we're not seeing it fixed.

Sorry for all this noise. I just realized our issue is different from @rjakes. I will read more carefully next time.

If you mouse over Resolved you'll see a note saying the fix has been rolled out to the Cloud and will be available in a server release.

We are in the process of rolling out JIRA Software for our IT Dept, and JSD for our Help Desk. We are having the issue this JIRA is about; preferences for Detail or List View not begin retained. I see this issue has been Resolved but not fixed. So far 4 of our dozen beta testers has complained about Detail View and asked how to "turn it off". I now understand what Nic has been saying, that we are supposed to be able to "essentially turn it off" by JIRA remembering our preference, but it is not doing that. It's not Detail View itself that we are having an issue with, it's its inappropriate appearance. Is this a trivial issue? If you use Detail View, no; if you never use it, yeah it's a real pain. Picture it this way ...

You own a three story manufacturing plant. Your assembly line is on the first and third floors and process steps go back and forth, being performed on both floors to complete your product (don't report me to lean.org). You get on the elevator with your product on the third floor and press the button for the first floor. Every time you go to the first floor, the elevator stops on the second floor, the doors open, no one gets on or off, after 30 seconds, the doors close and you continue to the first floor to continue your work. You have to go from the third to the first floor a couple hundred times to produce each product. You'd grow very tired of that second floor.

I really like both views and being able to swap between them, but I do not want to have JIRA lose my current preference setting.

@rjakes has an issue with it losing his settings. It happens to him, he's given the circumstances in which it happens, and ruled out the "incognito" option as the cause of the problem. This issue should be re-opened and re-examined as it's clearly a problem.

Incognito is not used at all in my environment.

The bug happens for me when I shut down my computer without logging out of Jira. Very often, but not always, the issue view changes to detail when the machine starts back up. About twice a week my browser starts up with Jira in detail view for issues, and I never, ever, change my issue view to detail.

            Hi all,

Incognito mode will start a new browser session, so it's not possible for JIRA to remember carry anything from the other browser window.

Furthermore, this bug report is not clear to the Engineering team at the moment. We need specific steps to reliably reproduce the bug (if any) to be able to triage and prioritize this issue.

            Regards,

            Oswaldo Hernández.
