Ability to disable Log Work entirely but leave Time Tracking on, for use with Tempo

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

Customers may want to do all their time tracking from within Tempo, but even when disabling the Log Work field, the "Work Log" tab at the bottom of issues still shows, as does the "Log Work" option underneath More Actions.

It should be possible to totally disable the Log Work options, but still have Time Tracking on in the background.

Hi, well, we have now similar requirement of our customer not happy to see no chance to do it.

I think it was very wrong decision to close this issue. It forces OnDemand users such as our company to switch back to JIRA Server which I think is a regression. Basically this issue makes it impossible to have any timesheet workflow within JIRA. Timesheet management is required for most companies above certain level of size. Would you be able to reopen this issue or think about some workaround solution for OnDemand users?

The "Atlassian JIRA - Plugins - View Issue Panels" contains 16 modules, but only two regarding timetracking.. and they both relates to the right-hand side time tracking box, but NOTtop menu item "Log Work" in the "More actions"-menu. This latter one is the only one I really need to disable, as Tempo worklog attributes does not appear here.

            Thanks!

            Hi Sverrir,
Yes this still happens. I may have a clue on why though. I am using Structure plugin also, and Structure seems to change the time tracking section of an issue. See screenshot-1.

            Behavior is:
            1. On first click, open JIRA worklog form.
            2. Click cancel on JIRA form. Click again and here appears Tempo worklog form.

I succeed in resolve your problem.
            With a french JIRA :

Search in system plugins the view issue panel plugin and disabled le webfragment module for worklog
Search in the plugin "operation des demandes" the module "afficher le lien de travail de ops bar"

You disable the "+" in the right panel and the operation link in the view issue panel. Thats all !

I also find it useful to have the ability to use Tempo or Time Tracking, whatever the preference is. Having both active at the same time is quite confusing, given the fact they have slightly different interfaces. Trying to explain/train our developers which one to use is going to be a nightmare by itself, so it will be great if you guys can do something about separating those two plugins and allow users to use Log Work from Tempo, but still see the Time Tracking graph(without the ability to log time from there though).

I, too, really need this functionality...basically, make the Tempo log work interface, the default interface globally in Jira. I don't want greenhopper plugin, for instance, to allow folks to log hours. Can't wait to get this one!

As an on-demand customer, I also want to be able to tweak the sys plugins...but I cannot (this would allow me to hide some places where the Jira Log Work dialog is spawned).

This is essential especially for the JIRA Studio customers or anyone else for that matter who uses both GH and Tempo alongside JIRA.

Having multiple ways of entering time is good but all of them should comply to the same model.

This is still causing a major issue for us as we pretty much have no control of our billing cycles as we thought we did when we purchased the plugin. Now anyone can log any work during any time period and we would never know nor find it, esp it can be done in error.

Would be really helpful to either have an option to disable to worklog in Studio if using Tempo as needed OR have the ability to restrict time logging prior to a specific date directly in Studio.
