THE BYPRODUCT OF THIS ISSUE CAN BE LOST DATA/PRODUCTIVITY

I have validated this still exists in V3.6 of JIRA running on Atlassian's site.

Hotkeys such as Alt+F (File Menu) and Alt+E (Edit Menu) in Firefox are being overridden by JIRA. My improvement suggestion is to change the JIRA hotkeys to NOT duplicate those implemented by common browsers.

Although IE does not cause pages to switch until you activate the link (by hitting enter or the space bar), Firefox activates the link immediately and thus leaves the user with no recourse to reclaim any comments they entered.

I've lost work on several occasions and am beginning to work around by typing in notepad first, but I am confident designers of JIRA would agree that this shouldn't be necessary especially when Alt+e then a is a very common shortcut for the Edit-Select All implementation in software.

I understand that not all users may experience the Alt+e problem since not all users have rights to edit JIRA issues. But the Alt-F feature (use the File menu) would also be overridden to the Find link in JIRA. ( just validated this and gladly cut my content to the clipboard before trying since all was lost hitting alt+F)

Another JIRA requested for a feature which allows the user to decide whether they want to be diverted from the edit mode they were in might be one approach, though could also be irritating as the "do you really want to delete the file" found in windows explorer but i digress.
