Somehow the attachment field is marked as required, even though this should not be possible

This was seen on the support site for confluence. Hiding and then showing the field returns it to its normal state, but it should never be in that state in the first place. Even though the field is marked are required, there is no validation done to enforce it, the symptom is just that you see a "*" next to the input for the field.
