NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

JIRA applications installation requirements indicates that

For a small number of projects (less or equal to 100) with 1,000 to 5,000 issues in total and about 100-200 users, a recent server (multicore CPU) with 2GB of available RAM and a reasonably fast hard drive (7200 rpm or faster) should cater for your needs.

This phrasing of "2GB of available RAM" is confusing and it is unclear if that refers to total system memory, JVM heap size, or some other metric of "availability".

If this could be made less ambiguous it may save some people the trouble of trying to evaluate or use JIRA in an under-provisioned environment.
