"Auto-update search results" description in General Configuration is unhelpful

In the General Configuration in 5.2 and later, we have a new item - "Auto-update search results". This has the description, "For supporting criteria, updates search results instantly".

This description is pretty confusing and really doesn't explain what this setting does and why you would want to turn it on or off.
