In new search UI, jql query for [text field] !~ [value] throws error

1. go to new issue nav search, jql mode
2. enter description !~ "abc"
3. search completes correctly, however an error is received from the request to convert to simple search fails (view chrome inspector)
4. user can go to simple search, no representation of description param is present

this is the same for 4 text fields: description, summary, environment, comments
