"Release Version" dialog doesn't respect Day/Month/Year format

    Description

      Original Description:
I get an error message when releasing version because of a dialog expecting a wrong format.

      • I have a "Day/Month/Year Format" of "yyyy-MM-dd"
      • I have a version with a release date "2011-12-31"
      • I click on "Release" in the "Manage Versions" window
      • I get the confirmation window asking me to release with the "Release Date" filled out to my previously selected Release date in the proper format e.g. "2011-12-31"
      • I click on "Release" again
      • I get the error message "Please enter the date in the following format: d/MMM/yy"

The release dialog clearly doesn't respect my chosen Day/Month/Year Format settings but requires d/MMM/yy instead. This can be either seen as a bug or as an inconvenience.

I checked by setting my Year/Month/Day format to "d/MMM/yy" and everything works as expected. The release date field is prefilled in the correct format so the Release button works without an additional error message.

      Update:

I have found a workaround which worked for a customer who had a very similar issue. Please try this in your JIRA instance:

      1. Navigate to JIRA Administration > System > User Interface > Look and Feel.
      2. Leave the Day/Month/Year Format blank.
      3. Save.
      4. Try releasing a version.
