Problem Statement
We need a way to pause, schedule, or prioritize Jira's automation queue so that we can manage when Jira processes these tasks.
Summary
In certain situations, there can be a large amount of pending tasks for Automation to process and can ultimately result in a performance issue.
In these situations, it would be helpful to have a way to pause, or prioritize, or schedule, how Jira handles the backlog in order to minimize impact to the end user.
- Pausing would allow the system to avoid a performance issue and allow users to continue using Jira even if they're missing data on the issue
- Prioritizing the Queue would allow the system to act in "real time" and then process the old items in the queue during off hours
- Scheduling the Queue would allow the administrator to set up processing times and forget about it until the queue is caught up.
