This issue is now resolved, and steps to configure custom project email addresses have been updated in the Configuring Jira Cloud to send emails on behalf of your domain documentation page.

In order to be able to use a custom email, you will need to prove ownership of the domain as well as configure DNS records.

You can validate ownership of a domain in two ways:

The site in question is integrated with GSuite where this the domain in question is managed
You've set up an Atlassian Organization with a valid domain claim on your domain - please follow instructions in the documentation linked above to set this up

After following the steps in our documentation:

Customers use "Verify Email Domain Configuration" and receive the error:

Domain claim failed for this domain

Configuration settings have been correctly applied yet the error message persists.

Please open a support request in support.atlassian.com. We will implement the workaround on your instance.
