      Issue Summary

When email addresses are added to the suppression list, it is needed to contact Atlassian support to provide the list and clear current occurrences.

      Workaround

More information on this topic, here: Jira Cloud email notification suppression list and why users don't receive email notification

There are now two self-serve features for removing a user's email address from the suppression list in certain cases without needing to contact Support:

      • For new users (who have not yet logged in for the first time) clicking the Resend invite link will remove the email from the suppression list.
      • If the user has a verified account (i.e. they have logged into your Jira instance before) and the suppressed email notifications are being generated by a Jira Software or Jira Work Management project, project admins now have the ability to remove the email address from the suppression list using the Project email audit

If the self-serve options are not available to you we recommend creating a Support Ticket with us. For a quick resolution, please include the affected user's email address in your message.

I vote for some way that project admins can clear or edit the suppression list.  We have a high transition of staff with many that return - due to licensing we have to archive their accounts, and then re-create them - this leads to several of these kind of accounts landing in the suppressed email list.  Some way that we can easily remove known/trusted addresses (especially if they are in your own domain) would be very much appreciated.

This would be good to have in Admin tools. I spent a ton of time trying to get an important account of ours working but ultimately ended up needing Atlassian support to clear a block.

Administrators should at least receive an email notification when an user will be suppressed.

This is one of those "Feature" requests that makes no sense that it wasn't implemented from the very start. How is this ability not given to Org admins by default?

            Hi,

It is practical to have the ability to remove our users from suppression list as Org Admin to avoid service interruption in our business.

            PCS-258555

            Looking forwards to your decision.

            Best Regards,

            Mahmud.

Same here.  I just systematically submit a monthly support request to clear the suppression list, whether it's empty or not.  I also made my own "template" that I would copy-n-paste the same request content and I don't have to think about it 🤣🤣🤣

As an org admin this feature would be very useful so I don't have to keep submitting support requests to Atlassian support for every person reporting they don't receive emails.  Being able to review and then clear people off the emails suppression list would smooth this pain point so I can quickly diagnose the issue and then resolve it instead of speculating and hoping I'm right when I contact Atlassian Support.

I've been having to submit more requests recently due to implementing the external party 2FA feature that sends external users a passcode to login every week.

I strongly support for this feature as it's very critical for the organization and it should be implemented at the earliest. Exporting and clearing suppression list by ORG admin is very much required to support users and to reduce Jira support tickets as well.

Isn't Atlassian embarrassed by this most basic of requests still not being addressed after all this time?

In regards to the update today on the workaround, the issue is we don't know who is currently on the list. If I am dealing with 50 external people, should I send through all 50 email addresses for Atlassian support to review just in case they are on the list? Should I then do that every few days just in case they have been re-added to the suppression list?

I don't understand why this is now 2 years old and still not looked at by the Atlassian team. The unnecessary work it creates for customers as well as Atlassian support must be costing everyone money.

Yes please. Being submitted to a suppression list that you can not see, change or clear with is quite inconvenient. Also as an org admin I'd like to export not only the current list but more importantly the logfile entries leading to being set on that list.

I agree this is critical functionality that is needed. It will help us as customers of Atlassian and also reduce the number of tickets being logged with Atlassian support.

That fact support can't even remove all emails for a specific domain from the suppression list makes this process very painful to trouble shoot.

We have 90+ users on Atlassian.

            1. Sometimes users don't notice they've stopped receiving emails, which can make them miss important updates.

            2. Initially I spent a lot of time troubleshooting why this happens as there's no real documentation of this issue, even though it is the only Atlassian email related issue I ever faced.

            3. Users stay with this issue for a while as the process of:  /them informing me - me opening a ticket - problem solved/  takes some time.

As the IT person I want to be on top of things, make sure no one is missing anything, and if they are, I want to be able to solve it or at least be informed of the issue.

We are facing this issue here. I think breaking this down into two features could give a short term and long term solution:

            1. Reporting a list of current users in suppression list - short term, create tickets
            2. Removing people from suppression list - long term, self service.

Site admins should be notified whenever a user's email is added to the suppression list so follow-up and resolution can happen. Key people in a high $$ business process are counting on these notifications. This needs to be corrected ASAP by Atlassian and not kept around for years gathering interest. Considering other issues we've had where users didn't receive emails for days, this is just not acceptable!

Similar issue, a users email ended up in the suppression list. Either notify admins or, preferably, allow the customer to manage this, without having to contact support.

We spent a week chasing this down.  Wasted a lot of time and effort within the company.  Why not notify the admins if emails are added to a suppression list?  Or better yet, as mentioned above, let the customer check this and clear it themselves?
